My dear friend, welcome on board. This fast is about abstaining from doing the thing (s) God has put on your heart for 40 days. Some people are not going to watch TV, some people are shutting down their What’s App, some people are not eating a particular food item as we pray every single day seeking God’s face.
Organize time to pray in the morning and in the evening and make each prayer session at least 45 mins long. It is a time of sacrifice, let’s aim to spend much more time with God than we usually do. Let the Holy Spirit push you, it will not be in vain. If you can spend 1 hour to pray and worship in the morning, 1 hour in the evening or at night that will be awesome.
Time to appropriate God’s Word. 2018 is a Year of Victories!
A perfect reminder from God today and what it means for us.
Romans 12:21 says: “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
If the Bible teaches about this it means it can happen to us. I am sure many of us can relate to this. When we are affected by all our challenges we can easily change and become different people, we can easily stop caring and grow cold, we can easily focus on just receiving and we forget what it is to give, if we are not watching out.
Some of the challenges and attacks we might face can over time make negative, bad things creep into our hearts and we become overcome. We stop even praying the best prayers for others for fear that they gain more success than us.
What evil has come our way? Emotional Abuse, Sexual Abuse, Physical Abuse, Rejection, Lack of Recognition, Bullying, Injustice? The toughest challenge we face my friend is that, that evil does not overcome us!
God loves us and he wants us to overcome so that we can be at our best in this life. His plan is not at all for us to be overcome by the evil we face, his plan was always for us to be overcomers. What now? God doesn’t judge us yet, he gives us the word of knowledge so we can get better day after day.
If we are going to receive the breakthroughs we have to be good people, it is essential. Do good, your breakthrough will come. God sees, God acknowledges, God rewards.
Let’s not forsake goodness. For “Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; 21 nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you” Luke 17:20-21. One good question we can ask ourselves: Is the kingdom of God in us right now if we cannot do good?
Jesus remains the perfect example for us to follow. This is one of the many occasions he set out the perfect example for us to follow after all the evils that were perpetrated against him: “Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do” Luke 23:34. The cross was a very decisive moment, if Jesus didn’t overcome evil with good in that moment, he would have never won. Never. He won because he overcame evil with good.
If you have been doing good, may God who has seen you and loved your doings mightily reward you at this time in the name of Jesus. God’s plan was always for us to be overcomers.
Lord I want to be like Jesus. Jesus was blessed beyond measure by you (Philippians 2:5-11) because he remained good and was not overcome by evil in the end. I want to be like Jesus so I can be blessed by you beyond measure too. Give me Jesus mindset.
If you are struggling, I pray that the Holy Spirit will help you be transformed again so the blessings God has for you will come in your life, in Jesus name!
How have your life experiences changed you? Do you still hold unforgiveness and resentment for something evil someone did to you? Dealing with it is what cures it, not running away. Write down what happened on a piece of paper and how it transformed you, then confess it out loud to God. Pray that the Holy Spirit help you be transformed again and do good according to God’s will!
