My dear friend, welcome on board. This fast is about abstaining from doing the thing (s) God has put on your heart for 40 days. Some people are not going to watch TV, some people are shutting down their What’s App, some people are not eating a particular food item as we pray every single day seeking God’s face.
Organize time to pray in the morning and in the evening and make each prayer session at least 45 mins long. It is a time of sacrifice, let’s aim to spend much more time with God than we usually do. Let the Holy Spirit push you, it will not be in vain. If you can spend 1 hour to pray and worship in the morning, 1 hour in the evening or at night that will be awesome.
Time to appropriate God’s Word. 2018 is a Year of Victories!
I am loving today’s message God is asking me to write about: The Stolen Blessings! This is a subject I can definitely relate to. One of the devil’s most loved tasks is stealing things that don’t belong to him (John 10:10). He may use someone to steal that thing from us but he is the real enemy. Our fight isn’t against people but against “the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12)! That is what we are up against.
In the spiritual realm, stealing is going on in many lives. You might have experienced it before or you find yourself in that situation right now. When God brought me back to him a lot of things had definitely been stolen from my life. Success was one of them. When I started fasting and praying I never expected to find out from God that different people, at family level too, had a part to play in what was happening to me. The story of Esau and Jacob (Genesis 27) is the proof that stealing blessings can happen at family level. Rebekah helped Jacob steal Esau’s blessing and he successfully stole his brother’s blessing.
Do you believe that some blessings have been stolen from your life? Has God revealed it to you? It is very tempting when you find yourself in that position to “make things happen” and take the matter into your own hands and even pray wrong prayers.
Here is the powerful knowledge God is sharing with us today: To regain back whatever the devil has stolen from your life, you have to go through God and trust him for it!
Proverbs 20:17 teaches us that “Bread gained by deceit is sweet to a man, but afterwards his mouth will be filled with gravel.”
This means: do not attempt to steal back anything from anyone and don’t become someone who steals others blessings too because it happened to you.
Let God be the one who brings back to your life what was stolen. God knows how he is going to restore what was stolen. He has a plan. He re-writes people’s future.
- Forgive the people the devil has used
- Start focusing on God’s will in the now
I never confronted the people God showed did something against me. God led me to forgive and trust him when I found out. So with the Holy Spirit’s help, I let it all go, I couldn’t do it alone. Then I started focusing on the now and the will of God for me at that point. He spoke and made me understand that everywhere they said “no way”, everywhere they cursed, in every area they stole, he was going restore it all back, he gave me Joel 2:25-32 and I was declaring it in my prayers in addition to many other scriptures as I was fasting for victory. Every piece of knowledge about my destiny finally came from God himself, I heard everything from him. I was so amazed, I never imagined that he had planned to give me all of this and that with him I had something called “A Destiny”! Until he came and filled me with that knowledge. I can never forget what God did for me.
God has a powerful destiny in store for you, this is what I hear him say. He is the way to regain back everything that has been stolen from you. Let every knowledge about your destiny come from him. Let him be the one who brings it to pass because you prayed and fasted and declared all the right biblical truths over your life. Let everything God has planned to give you back come from him. Don’t steal the blessings that do not belong to you. Don’t say you will copy that person’s business idea so that you can steal back what they stole from you. Let it go and focus on God’s will now.
Let’s look at a story from the Bible in 1 Samuel 30: 1-8 that will speak to you:
“Now it happened, when David and his men came to Ziklag, on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the South and Ziklag, attacked Ziklag and burned it with fire, 2 and had taken captive the women and those who were there, from small to great; they did not kill anyone, but carried them away and went their way. 3 So David and his men came to the city, and there it was, burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captive. 4 Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voices and wept, until they had no more power to weep. 5 And David’s two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite, had been taken captive. 6 Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.
7 Then David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, “Please bring the ephod here to me.” And Abiathar brought the ephod to David. 8 So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?”
And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”
The Amalekites “stole” men, women and children from David’s camp. Observe how David “strengthened himself in the Lord his God” (Verse 6) and then asked God what to do in the now. Furthermore, he waited for God’s answer and permission before taking action.
My dear friend God isn’t asking you to pursue the people who have stolen from you (knowing that the real enemy behind all this is the devil), but God is saying that “without fail” (Verse 8) you shall surely recover “all” (Verse 8) that was taken from you! In the name of Jesus! “David recovered all” that was stolen as God said (1 Samuel 30:18-19) but he went through God!
God loves you, Jesus loves you. Receive that love today.
Lord, I declare that “without fail” I will recover “all” that the devil has stolen from me. I declare that every area of my life from this day is circled with the blood of Jesus and I am now under his protection.
List all that the Holy Spirit reveals to you has been stolen from you (your success, your anointing, your joy, your faith, your financial blessings…), read it out loud to God and declare Joel 2:25-32.
Songs to sing to God:
God bless you!
