Guidelines:

My dear friend, welcome on board. This fast is about abstaining from doing the thing (s) God has put on your heart for 40 days. Some people are not going to watch TV, some people are shutting down their What’s App, some people are not eating a particular food item as we pray every single day seeking God’s face.

Organize time to pray in the morning and in the evening and make each prayer session at least 45 mins long. It is a time of sacrifice, let’s aim to spend much more time with God than we usually do. Let the Holy Spirit push you, it will not be in vain. If you can spend 1 hour to pray and worship in the morning, 1 hour in the evening or at night that will be awesome.

Time to appropriate God’s Word. 2018 is a Year of Victories!

Today’s Word:

Why you? The enemy attacks you because (John 10:10):

  • He wants to steal something that is in your life
  • Worse he wants to kill you physically
  • He wants to destroy you so you never become who God created you to be and bye bye your destiny

If he can he will do all three things to you not just one of them! This is the devil’s job, this is what he does.

I always share with everyone I meet something great God has taught me: you need to stop expecting the devil to be good. The devil is cruel and evil. He will never do something good! Start knowing who you are dealing with and stop expecting mercy to come from him. Mercy for you will only come from God.

Of course none of us like enemies, we don’t want to have enemies. But, the fact is we have one and he has his own army. If the devil has an opportunity, if he has one, he will try to take you down because you are God’s creation.

Satan is a being that wants the exaltation. He wants to be exalted and lifted up instead of God. He is jealous of God. And he is very jealous of us, our relationship with God and the love he has for us. That is what drives his actions.

This is the word of God today concerning Satan:

“When the enemy comes in like a flood,
The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him” Isaiah 59:19

I read somewhere that in the translation of the Bible the comma was placed in the wrong place and it should be as follow:

When the enemy shall come in, like a flood the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.

This is a literal rendering which reflects the Hebrew word order I found:

Although will-attack like-the-River [the]-enemy (subject) – (major break) – the-Spirit-of [the] Lord [will be] putting-to-flight him. So let’s go for this.

We all love this verse and when we hear it we shout “yes”, “amen”, “alleluia”, we jump, we declare and here is the most important fact about this verse God is sharing with us:

“… the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him”, we must allow the Spirit of the Lord, the Holy Spirit to flow in our lives so that he can help us. Different things have led us to build walls that the Holy Spirit is perfectly capable of breaking but we often quench him, when he wants to get through to take our walls down and we hold on to them and stay with our problems. We then pray the prayer with no reply. We want to receive financial blessing but we don’t forgive the people who hurt us, we want to inherit our destiny but we don’t want to change our ways to God’s ways, we want to be healed but we don’t want to repent before God.

Just like we have to put on the full armor of God to be able to stand against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:10-11 & 13), we have to work together with the Spirit of the Lord so he can help us receive the victories we need. We have to work as a team with the Holy Spirit.

When things like resentment, bitterness, wrath need to go so we can receive our victories and the Holy Spirit comes through to take those things down and we resist him and say: “I am not going to take that step” we are quenching the Holy Spirit and not working with him for the best. The Holy Spirit has fruits. He can help us live out his fruit instead living with resentment and bitterness etc. What then if we are resisting the fruit of the Holy Spirit?

God is there standing at the door of your life ready to lift up a standard against the enemy. As soon as you open your mouth today to pray again you will receive what God is doing in your life if you work with the Holy Spirit to let go of the things that must go. You will receive what God is doing my friend. Team up with the Holy Spirit and let him speak, you listen and act accordingly.

The devil cannot hinder what God has planned for your life to happen. God has the final word if you submit to him. God will always love you because of Jesus who has already taken the blame for you. Be on his team. Both feet in.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit I accept your help. I want to allow you to flow in me and in my life. Strip everything down that must go so I can receive what God is doing in my life. I open my heart to you today and I give you full access. Holy Spirit break out. Break my walls down. I don’t ever want to depart from you. Speak, I want to listen and do what you say. In the name of Jesus I pray unto you Lord, amen. Thank you Jesus, my king for your love.

Take a piece of paper and write down things that have hurt you and changed you. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal you anything you are not aware of and write it down to. Now read what you wrote to the Holy Spirit and ask him to let you live out his fruit.

Songs to sing to God:

Please do discover those songs if you don’t know them yet, singing them will highly bless your life.

God bless you!
